  A question for the men on this forum.

  i've read so many posts from the men on this forum.

  how many of you are are willing to defy the society, and defend your wives, sister, and/or daughters in the face of this religion?.

  Dear Restrangled,

  Two thoughts:

  1) Joseph, before knowing the whole picture and believing harm would come to the pregnant Mary, chose "to divorce her secretely because he was a righteous man". There are many I know who would take a hit before allowing harm to come to another.

  2) Since childhood I was bullied, and while I honestly don't remember playing the victim role, men and women both were always coming to my aid. Now it's time for me to assist and defend others. No one bullies me anymore. I am XJW, hear me roar!

  having looked at the images that people have found and pointed out, i have to say that i don't think they are there at all.

  just random patterns that happen to look like something familiar.

  Nut Art, technically known as Ephemera

  Mr. Chan is an artist as well as a collector of odd and unusual types of art. He feels that art of certain people and groups stands out above that of all others, particularly certain art [obviously, not all] of the WT Society. He ascribes to it the "tingle" factor and states, that in his opinion, it is the Cadillac of the Nut Art genre.

  Dear Mary of the Annunciation,

  Friends recently returned from a tour of Bethel remarked how very much they were reminded of the Sistine Chapel when they viewed this lovely tableau, "The Ascension of the Oracle". Were you, likewise, on tour recently when you took this photo? What is so wonderful for me personally is that I once had an audience with HIS HOLINESS, long before his canonization. We discussed my ardent desire to join the heavenly ranks upon my demise at Bethel. He said, ever so simply, that where I landed was not up to him. The experience gave an entirely new meaning to the word sacrilege. I'm going to check with my friends for more photos and share them with you. Thank you so much for reminding me of happier days!

  Dear Art Lovers,

  Freed from uniformity of thought and strict control over our every expression, I'm grateful that we can pretty much say as we like here, but within the bounds of propriety. In theory, at least, we can disagree without becoming disagreeable. May I add to the discussion that the term "subliminal" is neither totally comprehensive nor applicable to all aspects of art. The above term refers to that which is inadequate to produce a sensation or perception, or existing outside the area of conscious awareness. There are other terms to consider:

  secondary: immediately derived from something original, primary, basic.

  embedded: that which is enclosed closely within, as in a matrix; to make something an integral part of.

  reflective: that which is given back by by a reflecting surface.

  The above adjectives are terms that, in reference to art, can be placed directly before the word "image". These terms are more correct in describing certain forms of art; not all imagery is meant to be below a level of awareness. What many have described as their own personal experience is not to be tossed aside as mere delusion. What one needs to do is talk to artists who understand and employ this very real form of artistic expression.

  Greetings AA et al,

  Due to my lack of computer-related savvy and having antiquated equipment, I can only type out information. There are only two WTs, that I am aware of, that attempt to quash rumors of chicanery [deception by ARTful subterfuge] in the art department:

  "Would You Spread a Rumor?", WT September 1,1984, p.?

  "'Upon the Watchtower I am Standing'", WT March 1, 1987, p.15

  The WTs use such words as "rumors", "untruth", "false", "harmful", and "slanderous". As well, the 3/1/87 WT states, "Each article in THE WATCHTOWER and AWAKE! and every page, including the ARTWORK [emphasis added], is scrutinized by selected members of the Governing Body before it is printed." So, just the facts, then: Based on the above, is it simply a matter of somebody being asleep on the job? As a proofreader at Bethel, I scrupulously reviewed everything put on my desk. Two, three, four or more times. The "new-style" art did not exist when Ray Franz and I were there.

  I would be personally grateful for scans of the afore-mentioned articles and your comments on this. Since I am no longer a practicing JW, it is wonderful to be freed of the need to convince anybody of anything. Many thanx,
